Sally is obsessive and frequently returns to things she is familiar with. Yet she has a short attention span and doesn’t like to get bored. Thus, slowly the possibilities have slowly widened, with a diversely varying approach to material and process. Sally tries to make pieces as simply as possible but this doesn’t always happen. Some require a great deal of time to conceive and/or craft; others are fast. She has said of her work; “I try to keep my eyes open and not do anything that makes my teeth hurt.”
Sally has held four solo exhibitions at Gallery Funaki: Almost Black (2001), Flat Colour (2002) and Why are you like this and not like that? (2004) and odd one out in November 2010.
